What's Coming in May From Hunter Douglas

As we all know, Canada's new safety regulations come fully into effect May 1, 2022. We have now reached the point where we can no longer have lift cords or operating cords and chains on window coverings. This has lead to many designers and their clients wondering what options they may have going forward.

The obvious way around these new regulations is to purchase shades and blinds that are cordless or motorized. Cordless window coverings pose the greatest challenge as they have minimum width and maximum height restrictions due to weight, which then only leaves motorization as an option which is not ideal for many.

Hunter Douglas to the rescue!

Roller and Solar Shades

Hunter Douglas as created a new system for roller and solar shades. This system houses the operating chain in a rigid, retractable casing which will allow for wider and taller dimensions without sacrificing style. It's sleek. It's understated. It's genius!

Venetian/Vertical Blinds

Hunter Douglas has also come up with a way to keep venetian blinds on the market and it's called SimpleRise. It's the perfect solution for commercial use. Their venetian blinds will now have all lift cords removed. The blinds have a tilt wand and will be tensioned at the bottom by either outside mount hold-down brackets, new inside mount brackets and a new tape lock option. The only downside to SimpleRise is that the venetian blinds will not be able to be raised and lowered...they will only tilt open and close.
